What a great way to kick off National Farm-City Week!
This year’s National Farm-City Week Kickoff Luncheon in Washington D.C. featured music, celebrities, awards and live media coverage. National Farm-City Council board member Mike Adams and host of the popular radio show, AgriTalk, broadcast live during the luncheon, interviewing a number of distinguished guests, including former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture John Block. (Shown at left.) Chuck Zimmerman, from the agricultural blog site, AgWired, also provided coverage of the luncheon online.
Rolling Stones keyboardist and tree farmer Chuck Leavell (center left) received the first ever American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture, “Book of the Year” award for his children’s book “The Tree Farmer.” Terry Gilbert, a Kentucky farmer and Foundation board member, presented the book award to Leavell. You can buy the book at Amazon.com.
